Phil Mott, age 34, experienced a life-changing event in October of 2021. He was helping a friend when an accident with a hay cart resulted in a broken back. Much to his doctors’ shock and surprise, Phil’s post-surgical recovery progressed much faster than anticipated. His physical therapy team at Bellin Health in Denmark referred Phil to begin working at the Bellin Fitness Center in March of 2022.
Phil’s goal is to be back to 100% and make a full recovery. His hard work and determination has contributed to many successes in the time since he started at the fitness center, and overall in his total recovery. Since October, Phil has worked hard to regain the ability to walk and complete daily functions. More specifically, while working at the fitness center, he has begun driving again, walking without the need of crutches, can get up and down from the ground with little more than a hand-hold, and is hopeful to get back to his occupation within the next few months.
One of the things that resonated with his trainer, Katie, was his positive attitude when they first met. He is constantly impressed by his own progress and concentrates on the successes. Phil’s advice to others is to keep up therapy, even on the days at home, and to “have a positive mind and a good attitude about it. It gets you a long way.”
Way to go Phil!!!! Thank you for letting us go on your journey with you. We can’t wait to see where you go next!
