Brian has been a Bellin Fitness Center member for over a decade.. However, his membership and life took a dramatic course change in 2015. That was the year Brian suffered from a devastating Traumatic  Brain Injury or TBI. His muscles, sight, and most senses had to be rebuilt from scratch. The fitness center members supported Brian throughout his ordeal and continuing recovery. Brian continues to work out on 12 difference machines at least 3 days a week. He looks forward to any progress he can make and feels a “win” each time. Though progress is slow, the fitness center remains one of his top priorities. Additionally, his wife Janet works there  and it seems everyone knows Brian and his story.

In addition to the fitness center, he has spent a great deal of time with multiple physical therapists, trainers, and scores of the staff at the Eaton Rd site. As Brain states , “You have no idea what I have been through to be here today and the Bellin staff has made this all possible…every one of you! I sometimes get quite chocked up remembering the early days of my recovery ad the tremendous love I felt. It’s a process and I’m up for it!”

The fitness center has become a literal lifeline for him “Being disabled was the last thing I ever expected, but many wonderful things have also come from it. You learn who your true friends are, and many are from Bellin.” says Brian.

Prior to his TBI, Brian sold medical equipment for GE Healthcare. His interest included enjoying the company of his wife Janet, daughter Jackie and son Mitch and their lovable cats. Additionally, he enjoyed golf, bicycling, working on cars, fixing mechanical things around the house, spending time with friends, and watching movies. Some of these hobbies remain and others are difficult, but Brian is adamant that he’ll regain more and achieve his goals of enjoying them all again someday.

“Thank you for all you have and continue to do for me,” Brian addressing everyone at the fitness center.
