Men’s Health: Building a Better You

Did you know that men, on average, die nearly five years younger than women? Even with all of the advances in technology to detect and treat disease and the developments of more effective medicines men are still dying way too young. So attention all you men out there…your wife, your sisters, and your children don’t want to have to live without you. Beat the odds by living longer and stronger and using all the tools available to build a better you.

  1. Schedule an annual physical. It’s important to develop an ongoing relationship with one physician who gets to know and understand your whole health picture.
  2. Get your preventive health and cancer screenings. Your risk for certain health issues changes throughout life. Ask your worksite nurse or your primary care provider what screenings and procedures are recommended based on your age and overall health.
  3. Take care of business by taking care of yourself. Get at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise or activity at least five times a week. An easy way to do this is signing up for a Bellin Health Fitness membership or make it more personal by making an appointment with one of their certified personal trainers.
